Good news there. It is estimated by the CDC that


Only 8 percent of cases were tested in the first six weeks. Now that tests are more a available and the flu cycle is over more people are getting tested. So if you redraw the daily cases graph assuming April has another 92% of daily cases the daily cases graph is a lot less intimidating.

The U of Washington research does that match for you if you google their research.
