This is 100% the correct advice here. (1) wider shoes and (2) metatarsal

pads.

I run every day, and I have dealt with neuroma a few times. The first key is to get wider shoes. For me, after 30 years of wearing the same size shoe, I got new shoes that were a 1/2 size larger.

Next, find some metatarsal pads that work for you. As Femoyer said, the placement is critical and you probably will need to do some trial and error. They are not pads to cushion the area that hurts, but they are to spread the metatarsals so the nerve is not pinched. I used different pads that adhere to the insert on my shoes. I went down to the VT track, guessed on a location, ran a few hundred yards, came back, sat down, moved them a bit, then did it again.

I went from being in terrible pain just walking to being able to run pain free in one day once I finally got the wider (bigger) shoes and got the pads just right. Good luck.
