Even if we did agree on the science, what standard of "safe" should

we use?

We can't wait until it is 100% safe. May as well just bulldoze every school building now if that is the standard. There will always be some form of safety risk when people congregate together.

So clearly, we have to be willing to accept some risk to our children, teachers, administrators, and staff (and really the whole rest of the country, while we're at it). But where is the line? What is "safe enough?" Who gets to decide that? How do we know when we get there? How do we know we aren't already there? And, most importantly, how much are we willing to pay (I'm talking total societal cost here) for each incremental improvement in safety?
