Mesh* systems will out perform an extender by a great deal


The extenders are cheaper and possibly easier, but everything you do on them (I think they are smarter than a plain old repeater where all traffic in your house would get doubled) gets sent over the air twice using twice your available airtime (slightly more complicated than that; I can elaborate if you are interested). Mesh systems use a different frequency to connect the nodes so this isn't a problem.

*most modern mesh systems some of the earlier ones would not.
