King's Highway - question for civil engineers or hostorians here

A question came up in the Facebook group "You're Probably from Fredericksburg, Va. if..." about the King's Highway, which connected Boston and Charleston, SC in the 18th century. The question was, what route did it take in Virginia?
It says in Wikipedia that the route was Alexandria-Fredericksburg-Bowling Green-King William-Williamsburg-Yorktown-Hampton-Norfolk-Suffolk, but we're looking for something more specific, such as, what route did it take through modern-day Woodbridge?
Anybody know where this could be found? Does VDOT have a historian on the payroll?
