It is most definitely being misrepresented. People are pointing to it as

"new" information and implying (or outright stating) that only 6% of the reported deaths actually died from COVID. Both of those things are completely false and yet people are spreading them everywhere. In this instance the people "politicizing" this are the ones misinterpreting or misrepresenting the data so you would need to take that question up with them. I don't think it should have been politicized from the start but I didn't have much say in it... just like wearing masks should have never been a political issue but was made that by certain leaders.

You and people who keep asking "when does it end" are asking a question we simply don't know the answer to right now. What do you want? A number? A timeframe? I could give you either of those but it wouldn't necessarily be accurate and then when that number/time came you'd say "Wait you said it'd be over by now". It just doesn't work that way. This is a virus that we're still learning about. It's a pandemic that is still in its infancy. The sooner people understand that the better for all of us. I know it seems like we've been dealing with this "forever" but in reality it's been no time at all.

And your post implies that we haven't moved forward since all this started when we most definitely have. Businesses have reopened. Schools have started back either in one way or another. People are flying on airplanes. Movie theaters have opened back up. We are slowly getting back to as close to normal as we can. We are making progress even if it's not as quickly as some would like.

Now when will things be completely back to normal like they were pre-COVID? No one has the answer to that because it depends on a myriad of factors. Obviously an effective and safe vaccine would go a long way towards helping with that but I'm not someone who thinks that's going to happen this year. Another thing that would help would be everyone pulling in the same direction but we can't do that either in large part because of people spreading misinformation like we see in this topic.

But all of this is outside the scope of this specific topic and honestly seems like an attempt to change the subject or move the goal posts. My point was simply that this piece of data being reported is not being accurately represented on multiple levels (it's not new information, it doesn't mean the COVID death count is off by 94%, etc). People are reading headlines or other people's interpretations of the data instead of going to the source and looking at it themselves. If you're truly about being curious and not politicizing things you should have a problem with that and support people doing their own research. Instead the only posts you seem to have taken issue with in this thread are the ones trying to give people the full picture and asking them to look deeper than just a headline or a scare quote.
