Group or Artist whose sound changed A LOT over their career?


Maybe exclude artists who look to do a different style or genre on each album, because those examples aren't "evolving" styles, but rather a plan.

I ask because I bought a 5 CD set of "The Replacements". For their first 2 albums in this set (Sorry Ma and Hootenanny) they are essentially a thrash punk group, and I have to admit that though I'm a big fan of the group and of Paul Westerberg, I'm just no longer into that kind of music. Or if/when I AM....the early Replacements aren't particularly GOOD thrash punk.

Then you have Tim, Pleased to Meet Me and beyond, and they're a pretty melodic well written alternative style rock group. I even remember reading an interview with Westerberg where he said something like "What's wrong with writing a good 3 minute pop song?"
