My son is first year at Longwood and last night he told me he had set up a meeting with a school counselor. Told me he is depressed and feels so isolated. Nobody talks to anybody, the professors constantly bring up Covid some students freak out if you get to close he said one girl in his class refused to take a handout because it had been touched by another person. Now usually he is an outgoing somewhat extraverted kid, but I could tell he wasn't his usual self last night. I encouraged him, told him not to do anything stupid, and he said Dad, I'm not do anything stupid like kill myself, I know I'm not feeling right so that's why I'm going to a counselor. I just wonder what we are doing to our kids? Are they going to grow up as a generation of lonely, isolated afraid of their own shadows adults? Yes, we need to do the right things, wash our hands, wear masks, etc. but stop all this emotional, doom and gloom, and stand up and be Americans! We will beat this thing!
