Yes there will be lasting consequence but those will be from the virus itself. Blaming "policies" or whatever is pointless. It's all the virus. Everyone is impacted in some way. Is the OP's daughter's depression more or less important than someone who has lost a loved one? Someone who has lost a job? Someone who "recovered" from the virus but still has lasting symptoms? Perhaps instead of pointing fingers at the "government" or "officials" or in the OP's case other parents we should realize that most people are simply trying to deal with this the best they can. It's an extraordinary situation and it has impacted people in a multitude of direct and indirect ways. Why don't we all look at it as part of the virus instead of trying to divide it into buckets that make it easier to blame someone? Most people (citizens, officials, politicians, etc) are just trying to navigate this situation the best they can. Pointing fingers isn't helpful.
