The FA Cup is my favorite sports competition in the entire world.


It is not part of the PL, but PL teams are included. Every single team in the 24-tiers of the English pyramid are included. Who you play and where you play is determined completely by a draw. Tottenham played at 8th tier Marine earlier this year, which is totally wild, and it was the biggest mismatch in FA Cup history.

To put it into an American perspective, imagine if there was a governing body covering all of US Baseball, and it was called the Baseball Association, and there was a BA Cup. The BA Cup features all major league teams, minor league teams, and even independent minor league teams, and who they play is determined completely by a draw.

In that scenario, Salem could host the Yankees. Or conversely, Pulaski players could end up with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of playing in Fenway Park.

I think the FA Cup is great for that sport, all the way down to the grassroots level. I wish American baseball would do something similar.
