Yep. TX is the only state with a stand-alone electricity grid


It is also deregulated and fiercely competitive. They do not winterize equipment and they do not have a capacity market. TX pays about 20% less than the average for electricity (and half of California), but it has all been at the expense (or lack thereof) of infrastructure.
