Nope, you'll find that to be a common low country occurrence. I can go to

the end of folly and be a mile from Kiawah island....but to drive there is an hour.
That's how most of the places are. The plentiful tidal rivers/creeks that rise and lower 6 feet twice per day make for challenging travel infrastructures. So you often have to go back up to come back down...but it's usually a nice pretty drive, at least.
