I live in Summerville, work in real estate all over CHS (not an agent).


I'll be glad to answer any questions about Summerville. There are several newer retirement communities here. You seem to have Charleston pretty much summed up. Good place to visit.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those areas for retirement. Raising kids, commuting to work is a different answer. Beaufort is a great town. If you initially thought Charleston would be a good spot to retire I'd check out Savannah. Easy access to the beach, awesome downtown and the traffic isn't bad.
