In his time on the floor he showed he was a decent defender and a good decision maker on offense with touch from outside. His baseline talent level is higher than everyone on the team except probably Bam and he's the only guard on the roster who has a handle AND the size to guard the NBA wings we struggle so mightily with.
This was not a good season to pick up a nagging injury in the middle of conference play, it was clear Maddox and Bam needed developmental minutes in the non-conference that they just didn't get.
It's not football, these guys love MY and transferring because of playing time as a true freshmen isn't the norm in basketball. If you don't see a path to play in the future sure, but there's a clear path to time for a guy like Maddox if he develops.
