Spring just isn't a good time at all to plant grass.

Between the coming summer heat and the ground feeding birds in the spring, you have to wait until fall.

About mid august start putting down a fall weed and feed.

Mid to late september, rent a slit seeder and lay it down. Put some starter fertilizer over top and then lime and fertilize again in the spring.

My yard has been a total mess for 8 years. I used to travel for work from mid august through november. Finally the Rona kept me home last year and I was able to do the above. In 9 months time, I have the best lawn in the neighborhood.
