Mine seemed to be caused by my diet.

This is probably a rare situation, but in my case, I realized that eating anything with a significant amount of corn seemed to be causing my plantar fasciitis issue to flare up. I discovered this by happenstance after cutting way back on carbs in my diet. After doing so, my plantar fasciitis cleared up within a few days. I then tried re-introducing several sources of carbs back into my diet and it seemed like corn caused it to flare up again. So, I cut out the corn, and all has been well ever since. Weird, I know. I'm guessing corn was just causing inflammation in my body, and it manifested in the form of plantar fasciitis.
