In NC - employer directs medical treatment. If Ee chooses to go to personal doctor they could be on the hook for that visit. There is a 7 day waiting period following injury before compensation kicks in so Ee can use sick or vacation leave for missed work during the waiting period. If Ee is out 21 days that time is reimbursed.
