I pretty much grew up at VT - would go to campus and run around the library when my father was working on his doctorate then go to the football game vs teams like Delaware, W&M, and Tulsa back in the 70s. Was there in the mid to late 80s as a student. Much has changed since then. My oldest loves VT football but chose the military route. My other two had zero interest (both had been to the campus several times in their athletic career). Now my kids have athletic careers at other schools, so obviously my level of interest is much higher there. Hard to really say why I spend much time here. It's pretty much a perpetual gripefest. I guess that's a big part of my loss of interest in VT football. It's as much the fans as the team's performance on the field. VT has an institution has also changed a lot. As for donations, I'm funding kids at two different schools. VT is much lower priority.
