Which is what abolishing federal student loans would do. If you had to get


a loan from the private sector, the loan officer would treat it like any other funding request by calculating how big of a risk you are.

If you are a top 10% high school student and want money to study engineering at Purdue, that's probably a good investment. But if you're a bottom 40%er and want to study (to borrow a Dave Ramsey-ism without offending anyone's college major) left handed puppetry, I'm not loaning you money to do that.
