Lots of good and interesting ideas..

in this thread regarding expansion. My opinion is that in a perfect world with no money constraints a whole lot of these would be worth considering and probably implementing. However, as we are all well aware money is probably not unlimited so they probably have to go at it from a multiangle approach.

Put a vision/design together of what you would build were money/budget of no concern. Look at what you want in terms of functional areas(players/playing, fans, game operations) and then divide those in terms of producing ongoing revenue, possible one time revenue and no direct revenue. Then you could prioritize a fundraising/construction plan to get it done over time. My final observation is that in a tight money situation you have to take care of the players/playing part(field, dugout, other facilities)first and hopefully the on field product then drives/demands the rest of the project. No reason with VT engineering/business capabilities they cannot provide a concept/plan. The old saying, if you do not have a goal and map it is unlikely you know where you are going and even less likely you actually get there. Hopefully the Reach for Excellence campaign is a sign of things to come across the department and for all sports. Finally, just my opinion, the more heavily involved a coach is in all those aspects probably the better indication they do not view their current position as a stepping stone. This is not to say some may still not leave depending on an offer but, I believe it is a direct reflection of their investment in VT.
