What exactly does the survey show? It's all in the wording.

The survey only reflects the impact of ND playing in the ACC last season. A fan could say it had no impact, and yet be in favor of joining a conference just as they were in favor of joining a conference prior to last season. In that case the season didn't impact them because they were already in favor of it. What the survey shows is that, regardless of how people felt prior to last season, now 29% of ND fans are more positive on the idea.

They did not ask if the fan was in favor, only if this past season impacted their view. You can't assume with surveys that a question you didn't ask is being answered by a question you did ask.
