I think I had one cartridge in the last five years the printer wouldn't

recognize. And the manufacturer quickly sent me a replacement that did work.

I haven't had an HP for probably 20 years, but I've heard they are the worst when it comes to aftermarket ink. HP updates their firmware every few months specifically to befuddle aftermarket ink cartridges. I don't think Canon and Epson are nearly as bad.
