that regionalized league. Television ratings ... which sells the needed advertising would take a huge hit.

Same with the SEC. Like it or not, the BIG and the SEC need the other conferences to exist to maximize tv revenue. If they formed their own regionalized leagues, they would marginalized millions of viewers who would look elsewhere for tv entertainment.
