If you are ever passing through Emporia (VA), and

see "chicken muddle" on the menu, give it a try. According the Virginia Historical Society, muddle is an even older dish than is Brunswick Stew. Muddle is thicker and spicier than Virginia style Brunswick Stew. Unlike Georgia style Brunswick Stew, muddle is flavored with bacon rather than barbecue sauce.
