I intentionally sit next to the students because I love the energy, but this game was not typical. We usually rib, but do not throw things. Lots of hand shaking with opponents in past. I've had kids show up vaping, but told them to move on and they did. I think we had an issue with 1/2 the students not knowing what game behavior is like and acting like middle school kids due to the lack of insight. We also had way too few people for stadium help, so not much support with getting the students in their seats (and many had no clue where their seats actually are) let alone getting help with people in aisles or throwing things/vaping.

That game reminded me of the crap that has happened to us at UVA games except they don't have enough people show up to make it as big an issue. The University sent out a good note today to let the students know more about what is expected and they will be marking the student section better (this was first year they had open seating for students instead of assigned seats).

There are lots of adjustments in progress, so I hope you come back in future. We can and have done much better. Hope to reciprocate next time and make it up to you all. Also hope to return to Chapel Hill for a game one year, too. Sorry for the mayhem and wish us luck in getting the experience more positive.
