I'll corroborate AshburnFarmHokie's account. And downplay Warner's role

Heard some of the same rumblings about Tech in the ACC back in the summer of 2000. And if everyone will recall, our acceptance of full membership in the Big East came with a condition that Miami would also remain as a full member.

John Casteen was ALWAYS in Tech's corner. He didn't have to be directed. The extent of Mark Warner's involvement was to provide Casteen some cover from flak within his own Board of Visitors. Certainly helpful, but not as instrumental as Mr. Warner likes to present.

In 2003 things went down exactly as Bill Foster described to AshburnFarm that day. Tech and Miami were the only options that could garner seven votes.
