Are sports slowly dying

Over the last five or so years I have slowly begun to lose interest in sports. It started with the NBA. Watched Jordan all the time and even watched often in the Grant Hill time there after, but the game, for some reason became unwatchable for me. Then there was baseball. Loved the Braves of the 90’s but then it just seemed like free agency didn’t keep anyone around for me to cheer for after Chipper Jones left. Then the NFL started the whole national anthem thing, and all sports became over politicized over the last 5 years and so I just stopped watching, especially last year. And I found I really didn’t miss sports at all. And then there is VT football. It’s essentially the only sports team I follow now. And unfortunately it has just become unwatchable at times. The team has become uninspiring, average and honestly, dare I say boring. I love VT as a graduate and will still visit from time to time when I travel back to the east coast from Montana to visit my parents, but honestly, being out west, it’s easy to forget and never watch. And now with NIL, the transfer portal, players perhaps becoming employees, and VT’s uninspiring brand of football, it leaves me wondering. Wondering if this is just me or the reality of the direction of sports. Anyway, hoping it is just me.
