I don’t believe the neck is the area of concern for horse collar tackles.


It is the legs. Dragging them down hard from behind is dangerous to their legs. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. The only reason I can think of for that type of tackle still being legal in the “tackle box” is because the runner hasn’t gained full speed, tends to be leaning forward & less upright but I’m only guessing because I don’t make the rules.
