You are right. Although connecting Lane could potentially address


some of the other "needs" within the athletic department. Connecting 2 structures doesn't have to mean an increase in capacity. Although that is usually the primary reason to do it. It could mean utilizing space differently so it generates more money for the school.

For example, in HS I got to visit Toronto because I was a member of the band and we were competing in an international competition. While I was in Toronto I got eat at the Hard Rock Cafe which is physically connected to the Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome). I believe the restaurant is located to give patrons a view from either LF or RF. My point is VT could do something similar with the empty space around Lane. VT could lease the restaurant space to a company which would give VT more revenue. The restaurant could be arranged so people are still able to watch the game while eating there.

If VT had a horseshoe or bowl stadium, then it could make it easier to add more food and gift shops around the stadium. Heck VT could even add a pavilion area similar to what currently exists at FedEx Field.
