My HOA has gone nuts.


received a letter from their lawyer yesterday listing various items that I need to comply with. Most are reasonable and I'll do them. However one of the items which is them major item on the list is that my privacy fence and shed were not approved by the board. They say they will retro fine me for all the years that the fence and shed have been there or I can remove them voluntarily. So the house was built in 2000. I purchased the house in 2003--the shed and fence were already there. Part of the reason we bought the house was the privacy fence so we could let our dog run around outside. In fact the shed looks as if it was built the same time the house was built--same siding and shingles as the main house. According to our manual it meets the requirements of "community standards". I think the president of the HOA has it in for me because earlier this summer I caught him sneaking around the side of my house looking over the privacy fence. I had only met him once and didn't remember him, he's lucky I didn't run in my house and get my .38. We had an argument about trespassing. He said as a member of the board he had a right to examine owners property. I told him if he wanted to look at my backyard all he needed to do was ask, not sneak around like a criminal. Guess I'm going to have to call either him or someone else on the board to find out what the H3!! is going on and then maybe hire a lawyer myself if nothing is resolved.
