Our neighborhood has long struggled with guest parking on our streets. Just too few spots overall -- and those were being used by residents in the past, especially renters who had three adults and three cars (each house had two assigned spaces).

So the decision was made by the board to eliminate overnight parking in any of those spots -- AT ALL. They reasoned that guests were going to come during the day, not at night -- ignoring single people having "sleepovers," medical personnel, etc. What's worse, they were idiotic in the hours, wanting to set it from 11am-6am. And they shot down any complaints with "you should have come to a meeting when we were talking about it if you were really interested." I had to point out that "sending an email in the morning saying that tonight's board meeting will talk about the parking situation" isn't really the same as alerting people that major changes are coming.

They changed the hours, at least, and will only let the tow trucks tow between 4-5 am as a safety feature, but it's still annoying. That said, I know a neighbor who would park his third car in that visitor spot nonstop if he was allowed to. So it's nice to have it available when I have friends over.
