New coach, unfortunately same type of offense more than likely.

Just my opinion from watching college football for the past 40 years.

If you watch college football now, 90% of the offenses have the same basic look as what we have been running under Fu & Corny. Some run it more effective and consistent than what we have seen for the past few years. But, everyone has been running the same type plays (jet sweeps, WR screens, passing game relying on reads by QB / WR as play develops, inside/outside stretch running plays) that everyone has been complaining about on TSL.

Football over the years goes thru cycles of offensive philosophies from SIngle Wing, Wishbone option, Air Coryell (downfield passing game), West Coast, Spread passing game, and now Spread Option (Rich Rod's) with pass/run options added.

The key with any offense is when and where you call the plays and how you execute. Questionable decisions of play calling has kept VT offense from excelling from time to time each game unless we are physically more talented than the defense.

So, unless we get an innovative coach with new ideas, don't get too disappointed if we see same type of offense next year. Some coaches tweak it, but it's the same basic offense everyone runs. Hopefully a new head whistle and OC will have better consistent success.
