Well, let's put it this way
Taking it easy by doing 6-8 mile day hikes. Maybe...maybe get inspired to do a three day backpacking trip, see how that goes. That would include buying this whole new world of way more technical gear than I had back in the day. (I would almost like to goof on people by using my old 70s equipment, back when, you know, we bragged about having heavier stuff:)
And that would be it. if that were to go well, then yeah, maybe my next thought would be say a two week segment hike or something but I just don't see it right now. And I know what it's all about, did a two week hike from Front Royal to Lynchburg (before hitching rides to get back to VT to see the VT TAMU game back in the 70s and this was before before trail angels and all these businesses along the trail serving hikers needs.
My thought process lately has been Injured my knee and foot playing tennis/stay off tennis courts for a couple months/ride bike and do some hiking on AT instead/set day hike goal of doing all 41 miles of MD/which start me looking at you-tube on through hikers/binging mode, who knew?/follow one T-H really just to connect the whole AT in my mind/live vicariously through others and have deep thoughts.
Met a guy doing SOBO just a couple weeks ago in MD. Said he was in no hurry, will hike through winter. The MD day hikes have been fun, a lot of interesting features I had no idea about so it's been good.
