Read you post….You said that bowls were only relevant to sponsors and fans

Of the two teams (and in UEMcGill’s head). I pointed out that bowls can be relevant to players. To which you suggested that players = fans. While that may be true at some level it is a distinction that is understood by virtually everyone. So let’s think about relevancy. Basically it is a “who cares” standard. You acknowledge that bowls are relevant to fans and sponsors. They may be relevant to players (e.g., 1986 Peach Bowl), local businesses (and yes, that’s different than sponsors), interstate/intrastate commerce (money spent to/from game), general college football fans who like watching games either in person or on tv that generally aren’t fans of either team playing, networks, advertisers (that aren’t sponsors), associated employees etc….. I loved watching BSU beat OK in the Fiesta Bowl. Relevant to me. I’ve been to bowl games in person without being a fan of either of the teams. Also relevancy. I expect that I’m not alone.

College bowls clearly have relevancy beyond simply fans and sponsors. Obviously, a particular bowl may generate more or less interest and/or dollars than another bowl. That is arguably a situation of more or less relevancy but in no way shape or form does a bowl have zero relevance beyond sponsors and fans of the specific teams. I even watched part of the Bahamas Bowl. Was it hugely important, no. Was I entertained for a bit, yes. Am I a fan of either team, no. Did some folks in the Bahamas (other than sponsors) make money because of the Bowl, yes. Relevancy test met.

Yes I read your post.
