I think paying anyone not to work is insane. People should be paid for their performance and not rewarded after they are terminated. Thus I disagree with golden parachutes for executives and buyouts for college coaches. It's a flawed practice that many elite or indifferent defend but it should never be accepted, especially by those that support the business or in this case college sports team. I understand why and how these contract clauses exist, including why CJF was paid $8.75M to not work, so I'm just pointing out that we shouldn't accept it. There are other ways to compensate corporate managers and college sports coaches, e.g., performance achievements, incentives, escalators, yada yada.
