ND could have joined the Big East, Big Ten or ACC at any time for decades

It left a lot of TV and conference money on the table by not doing so.

If making the most money was THE priority, it would have joined the Big Ten in full before partially joining the ACC.

One phone call and ND would have been in the Big Ten five minutes later.

It joined the ACC mainly to keep football independent.

It parked its other sports in the Big East in 1995, but kept football independent.

It did the same with the ACC in 2012.

But, if the inevitable 2 super conference scenario unfolds as it seems to, then yes, if ND has to sell its football independence, it should join the highest bidder, not the lowest.
