My experience is that yes there is, but it abates soon after


Coached youth ball for a lot of years, every couple years a pitcher would take one off the head or face. Emails would start flying, a couple parents would start screaming that all the kids should wear helmets and pitchers and 1b should wear masks. Even had a kid who's mom made him wear a catcher's mask at first....felt so bad for the kid.
