Old Rag is a standard around here...

about 8 miles round trip, stiff hike up, clibing around boulders, place to sun yourself/lunch on top then nice fire road to bring you back to where you parked. moderately strenuous.

AT on catoctin is flat w/ good views, in other direction go to orginal Washington Monument in Boonsboro.

AT at Harper's Ferry has the spectacular postcard view of Harper's Ferry.

Billy goat compbined w/ Great Falls viewing and canal is a good day.
