As others have noted, it's really popular, the granite top..


can be a beach scene on (summer) weekends. certainly one o fthose get there early or on a weekday if you wish for a little solitude. Should be fun with a group but will add time. Takes me ~ 4 hours (and I have a pretty good set of legs) w/ lunch and all.

But yeah, really the gold standard for day-trip hiking out of DC area.
