Very nice work...

Going back to 1980 is a reasonable "reset" point. In these 36 years, VT was Independent for 11 ('80-'90), Big East for 14 ('91-'04) and ACC for 11 ('05-'15). And the first two years of Big East were more like Independent since we only played 1 conference opponent in '91 (WVU) and 5 conference opponents in '92. Round-robin scheduling did not start until '93.

* I agree that Uva, Miami and WVU are VT's most discussed opponents - and rivals. Good observation. In that 36 year period, we played Virginia every year and WVU every year until '06 when we stopped the series.

* I find BC at #4 interesting. We had NEVER played them as an Independent. But we have now played them 24 times in 25 years... the only exception was '04, because VT and Miami moved the ACC a year ahead of BC.

Good research :)
