San Antonio billionaire Red McCombs, who has given millions to the University of Texas, applauds the Big 12's decision to explore expansion, and he said the Big 12 should move on adding the University of Houston quickly; "Great news. Just that first step. Over the last couple of years I've seen negative reports like 'We can't even look at it. We can't do this' I don't figure that at all. The sooner they get Houston in, then you can discuss the others."

I think that the Graduate School of Business at UT-Austin is named after this man.
