Doing the same, although we are putting in $515/month

for both kids. Which should cover them by the time they are 18 or so say the calculators.

I liked the ability to manage when I put in the money (automatic now) but can delay or cancel any time, skip months, etc.

Flexibility to use the money for out of state tuition.

AND

Most important if there is a bubble burst and college costs come way down I don't know how those pre-paid plans work, are you stuck paying the agreed upon amount or will they reduce or return some of your money.

FYI, calculators stated 200K for each kid, they were born in 2013, told needed $511 per kid per month put away in the 529 when we started around 2 years old. Been putting $515 in each month.
