Isn't ESPN already ahead of them with MLB BAMTech.

ESPN bought partial ownership in the company with option to buy the rest. BAMTech has 7.5 million paying subscribers today with projected growth.

Amazon and Netflix are playing catch up, and they are going to be cut off by CBS and HBO as the individual content networks start up their own streaming engines. I think HBO has cut off Netflix already from any of its content shows.

The world is evolving to streaming, and it looks like ESPN will be there as it does. They have long term contracts for major content rights. They need distribution options to monetize them.
