~7 years ago, I was tight on money and called to cancel (no intent to keep the service). They would offer me lower rates - I agreed to $25-$30 for 6 months. I called back to cancel...offered me the same rate. I took it - then try to cancel after. They offered for free for ~ 6 months - may have done that twice. Finally when renewing again, they didn't offer the free part so I completely canceled. That had to be ~ 5 years ago. I continually to this day get the offers in my e-mail talking about 5 months for $25 or so on...I keep the e-mails going because they usually have a free listening period when I am usually planning a long driving trip.

So when negotiating, saying the price is the reason for canceling is key - however, know when your breaking point is if you want to actually keep the service. I didn't really need to keep it, so they wanted to keep me around so they can keep their number of subscribers high for to show companies for ad dollars.
