1. I've mentioned it before here but my wife and I are seriously considering selling our house in the next few months. One of the best secondary reasons is, it will force us to purge. This cannot be overstated as staying here and not moving for the last 8 years has not convinced us to declutter to the level moving would. Which brings me to point number....
2. My mom is gone and my parents were the packrats of packrats. You know the generation: raised by Depression era parents, nothing got thrown away as it could come in handy or be found a use for. I've told my dad multiple times: one of us is getting rid of all this stuff, either you now or us when you're gone. No third option. Agreed don't want to be a slave to our stuff or leave to a future generation.
