you need to learn a little bit about electricity before even attempting.

Things to think about:

Are you adding to an existing circuit?
Are you adding a new circuit because you have spare ones in you breaker box? If so, are you willing to go into a breaker box?

With that, electricity is not that hard. I learned by having someone help me through the above basics and doing a few hours of reading 3 decades ago:

1) how a one way switch works.
2) how a two way switch works
3) replacing plugs
4) Add a new line including going in the breaker box.
5) putting a GFCI

When I repainted an old house, I replaced all the switches (1 way, two way, and 3 way) and all the plugs. It gave me the knowledge to do all the basics.

Electricity is worth while to learn if are going to be a home owner and want to do some DIY.
