I get it is going to take time for the quality of MLS to improve

However, US Soccer may not be able to afford to wait until MLS has improved enough. If US Soccer decides to send its pool of players (let's say 100) for 2022 and 2026 over to Europe to play, then the relationship between US Soccer and MLS will never improve. Instead, MLS will always remain as the training ground for improving the quality of play for the other CONCACAF nations. Also, MLS may never get the global respect it wants as top tier league. Instead it will be viewed as a second tier league "where superstars past their prime go to fade away."

Honestly, I am fine with the other CONCACAF nations improving and even closing the gap to the US. If those nations can show in the World Cup, Olympics, and other international tournaments that the quality of play within the confederation has greatly improved, then that should eventually mean CONCACAF sees an increase in the number of World Cup slots and maybe not required to compete in a 2 leg interconfed. play-in round for a World Cup spot. As it stands now, CONCACAF is viewed as a weaker confederation than CAF.
