Going to disagree mightily here


If there were no polls, would Virginia Tech football be getting the ESPN Gameday to show up or would the national headlines (yes, national, I live in Minnesota and read plenty in the paper about Va. Tech here) be relevant if two ACC schools were playing one another or is it #2 vs. #5 or #10 vs. #12.

Polls are a conduit to promotion of sporting events.

Which is more enticing for a sports fan to consider?

A: "Hey, we're wrestling Central Michigan"
B: "Hey, we're wrestling Central Michigan, they're ranked 17th in the country"

Polls are a necessary evil in sports. I just try to make sure the coordination of the wrestling one is ethical and based on data and results, not subjectivity.
