Anyone here familiar with shoe/boot construction/repair?

I have a pair of ~11 year old Redwing steel toe work boots that I carelessly let get worn to the point that Redwing will not resole them. I had them resoled once before about 6-7 years ago, and the leather is still in great shape, but this summer I was working 60+ hours a week and was doing a TON of walking at work (according to my S Health app, I was walking on average over 5 miles per day at my jobsite).

Even though I knew I needed new soles again, I could never get to the Redwing store before they closed. Plus, I was living/eating/breathing/sleeping my project, so I had tunnel vision and really paid no attention to how worn my soles were getting. By the time my project wrapped up and my schedule finally normalized, I took a look at my boots and realized they might be too far gone to repair. Sure enough, when I took them to the Redwing store, they said that because I had worn through the midsole and Goodyear welt, they could no longer resole them.

Based on a little bit of internet research, it appears that a good cobbler should actually be able to replace the Goodyear welt and then resole the boots. So my question is three-fold:

1) Have any of you ever had this done

2) If so, any chance you had it done in/near Richmond? If so, where?

and, 3) How much did this cost?

TIA. You guys are pretty much my go-to source for any questions I can't answer on my own.

EDIT: To clarify, I already purchased a brand new pair of identical boots. I'm still interested in repairing the old ones if I can, so I'll have a backup pair.
