Reminds me of when I had my overcoat...

repaired a few years back. SE Asian husband and wife have run a tailor shop around here for decades... she runs the front with passable English and he does the bulk of the tailoring and his English is very broken.

A while back after some intensive diet/fitness work on my part, I treated myself to a Hugo Boss overcoat that was an absolutely killer fit and look. I have worn the hell out of it ever since, eventually shredding the inner liner and wearing completely through the right elbow courtesy of the armrest and manual transmission on my old M3.

My wife took the coat to the tailor one year for me as a surprise... said she was telling them what needed to be done and they kept saying that it wasn’t worth it to repair. She insisted and handed them the coat... they eyeballed and inspected it for a few seconds and agreed that it was worth repairing and gave her a price. When I went to pick it up a couple of weeks later, the husband made it crystal clear in very broken English that I had gotten away with a screaming deal on the work. The coat is as good as new and I think I enjoy wearing it even more than the tailor enjoyed fixing it... even if he won’t admit it.

Good clothing is worth it. My Redwings and my Wolverines are not disposable.
